Coral Commerce Limited is a British software company focused on developing cloud based orchestration services for businesses that will enable them to route their incoming and outgoing payment requests to many different payment and service providers globally through one technical connection.
Our propriatory solution has a long history of predecessors that enabled us to launch a well designed robust core system with a fully customizable frontend that is easy to use and integrate to. The founders team were part of the original Kwikpay PLC team that, in 2002 developed a market leading payments platform in partnerships with, for example, BT Wholesale, focusing on the SME market in the UK.
In 2006, following the sale of the Kwikpay group, the founding team's technical specialists joined Transsmart Limited, another groundbreaking company focused on providing easy-to-use web-front enabled 3rd party billing and VAS payments in the Americas, working closely with Walmart, Bank of America and 3rd party gateways, as well as building banking-as-a-service solutions (front-end) in South East Asia in partnership with various Vietnamese banks and service providers.
Launching a late stage payment facilitation platform under the Transsmart Limited brand, the team managed to sell into MNOs like Vodacom where the platform replaced their aging Cointel system and became a testbed for their future fintech (payments) plans. Subsequently Vodacom secured the license for the platform, and the team co-founded CoralCommerce to investigate the opportunities to orchestrate and embed payments and services for the digital market.
Using the history, experience, expertise and newly developed platform, CoralCommerce now enables businesses to make and accept payments, disbursements to purchase goods or to pay local suppliers with product tracking, make and receive account deposits, allow customer deposits and withdrawals, and enable escrow payments for the manufacture and freight of goods, all available via routed payment channels sponsored by our upstream partners.
It simplifies access to payment sponsors by offering a single API, eliminating the need for businesses to integrate with each processor or sponsor or MNO individually or through multiple APIs. Companies send transaction requests for processing, and the CoralCommerce system routes these requests to our upstream partners within our community for optimal performance, balanced fees and the best payment choices for their markets.
CoralCommerce is all about our people, from our amazing directors and shareholders to our partners and client base. We are managed by an experienced team that have built digital and payment solutions together since 2002, experienced in card, wallet, EFT / ACS / ACH, and mobile money payment flows from website and app implementations to backend payment processor builds.
Team leads at CoralCommerce worked at Fujitsu Services (ICL), Earthport plc, Kwikpay plc, Clickatell and Transsmart Limited, building skills and expertise in payment solutions, digital platforms and transaction management.
Our team focuses on how to turn stale, poor fitting payment implementations into exciting branded user experiences, how to help companies reduce churn and decline rates, how to focus on customer communications and regulations within payment flows, and how to manage disputes more affectively.
We specialise in integrating ourselves within our clients operational and technical teams, becoming part of their design and development strategies, and helping them embed payments and services with channel routing anywhere in the world.
Tightly partnered with several leading solution providers globally, we seek to help companies solve expensive losses in their payment functions, both for inflows and outflows, focused on reducing payment failures and user fatigue, whilst introducing them to the most applicable solution providers in our commerce communities.
Backed by a highly experienced board of directors, the team developed our payment processing and orchestration service from the ground up, and as a result we launched our alpha service in 2020/21, moved to the beta version in 2022, and went live in June 2023 with a full service payment gateway operating as a payment and service orchestration platform globally.
Within CoralCommerce are leads for each primary operational unit within the company, and these individuals are accessible and available to both assist existing platform partners and clients, as well as consult with companies who need assistance in the above mentioned fields.
The software lead and acting CTO for CoralCommerce is Jose Pita, a payments veteran with over 20 years of experience. Alongside Jose is our risk lead, Abby Mortimer, who manages the partner onboarding and risk teams. Partnered with these two leads is our commercial and product lead, Johan de Lange.
Our chairman, Jeffrey Ohrenstein, and our board of directors are all well experienced individuals in their respective fields, spanning retail, textile and freight industries. Our core team members and board members are based in the United Kingdom, our software team is based in Spain, and our techops & secops teams are based in the UK & South Africa.
Core to the CoralCommerce culture is the idea that a healthy commerce community is a wealthy commerce community. We use this as the basis for our upstream partnerships that we introduce to our downstream clients as a way to enrich all participants in our service. Partners within the CoralCommerce community includes dynamic companies like International Financial Systems, a service provider of core banking, Internet & mobile banking, anti-money laundering and cash management systems; Enhalo Group, a company that provides cyber security defense solutions, and Network Intelligence International, specialised risk auditors who provide multiple certification audits including our annual PCI DSS audit.
Upstream partnerships help our clients to process more effectively, and here we have banks, acquirers, MNOs, and payment services providers competing for the business of our downstream partners, our clients. Amongst these upstream providers we have several strategic partners like ABSA Africa, the UBA Group, KCB Group, and Equity Bank Kenya in Africa; Ingenico Bambora in Europe; Choizen Group, PMI Americas, InSwitch, and BEX in South / Central America. These partners help us with developing one of our key competencies as your future partner which is our ability to help clients and sponsors improve their processor integrations, which in turn helps us help merchants via our APIs to ease their own user journeys and reduce their churn.
